Painting Classes

Sam Howley is an artist based in Pembrokeshire.  He holds a degree in Fine Art and specialises in painting.  Sam has years of experience as a tutor and just wants to bring the sheer joy of creating a piece of art to everyone

Anyone is welcome to join these painting classes, from those with no experience to those who would like to brush up on techniques, or try something new.

All materials are provided, together with tea and coffee.

The painting classes will take place each Thursday from 10.00 until 12.00. You are more than welcome to attend the classes as one-offs.

• Week One’s focus is on fun and experimentation. You’ll be encouraged to mark make using a variety of different materials. 

• Week Two is Still Life. We’ll look at how objects are placed and find light sources that will help to bring your drawings to life.

• Week Three is the chance to use colour. You’ll use acrylic, gouache (an opaque water based paint) and watercolour. This session will give you the opportunity to explore colour combinations and different brush strokes.

• Week Four. This is a chance to get your hands on observation of faces.  We’ll look at some works by other artists, from Rembrandt to Picasso. This might give some inspiration to your approach.

• Week Five is Landscapes. A chance to look how light works in harmony with landscape, and how weather can inspire.

• Week Six. Mixed Media. Lots of fun here. We’ll use everything from PVA, sand and paper to filler and board.  A chance to make your own unique piece of art.

Each two hour painting class costs £30 and includes Sam’s expert guidance, all materials, as well as tea and coffee!
